Crypto influencer Ben ‘BitBoy’ Armstrong arrested over alleged threats to judge

Ben Armstrong, known as “BitBoy” in the crypto world, was arrested on March 25, 2025, in Volusia County, Florida, for allegedly sending threatening emails to a judge.

According to the Volusia County Division of Corrections, Armstrong is classified as a fugitive from justice and is being held without bail.

Armstrong himself disclosed his legal troubles on social media before the arrest. On March 21, he posted on X that warrants had been issued against him due to emails he sent to Cobb County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Childs while representing himself in legal proceedings.

In his post, he referred to Judge Childs as “dishonorable” and claimed she deleted her Twitter account after receiving his emails.

This is not Armstrong’s first run-in with the law. In September 2023, he was arrested in Gwinnett County, Georgia, after livestreaming a confrontation outside a former business associate’s home. Armstrong accused the associate of withholding his Lamborghini and was later charged with loitering, prowling, and simple assault.

His legal troubles extend beyond arrests. Armstrong was named in a March 2023 class-action lawsuit accusing him of promoting unregistered securities through Binance. The lawsuit, seeking over $1 billion in damages, also included NBA star Jimmy Butler and fellow crypto influencer Graham Stephan.

Once a prominent crypto influencer, Armstrong built a large following through his YouTube channel, BitBoy Crypto, where he shared news, analysis, and investment insights. However, his reputation has been marred by controversy, including allegations of substance abuse and erratic behavior.

In August 2023, he was removed from the BitBoy Crypto brand by its parent company, BJ Investment Holdings, due to concerns over his conduct.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific content of Armstrong’s emails to Judge Childs.
